MOM’S OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY, ROCKLAND, NEW YORK

An Initiative to support needy families during COVID-19

One of the core values of the MOM Foundation is to live a life in service to others. When we are faced with a pandemic of this magnitude, the MOM Foundation wants to show our willingness and ability to do something. So many people selflessly put themselves on the frontline to care for others with no consideration for their safety. Our nurses, doctors, police officers, firefighters, emergency service workers, grocery store clerks, restaurant workers, and first responders go to work every day with one intention, to take care of others. We are incredibly thankful for their service.

As a result of the Corona Virus outbreak, people throughout the world are under stay at home orders. The global economic impact of forced business closures is staggering. So many people have been laid-off or furloughed in the last eight weeks with no certainty of when or if they will be employed again. People are having a difficult time making ends meet. Our Community is no exception. Many friends and neighbors in our Rockland Community could use a little help right now. The MOM Foundation is aiding local families by delivering care packages of food and providing ShopRite gift cards to families in need. We appreciate your support, donations in kind, or click here: https://backup.mom-foundation.org/index.php/donations/God-love-a-cheerful-giver/ if you want to be part of this great initiative to support families with a meal.

A MOM Foundation initiative

President Sr. Mary Murray, Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, appreciates the kind gesture of MOM Foundation to deliver lunch to the staff of Siena Hall at the Sisters of Saint Dominic Convent in Sparkill, Sparkill, New York. The caregivers at Siena Hall are selfless and made many sacrifices during this pandemic. Mom Foundation wants to recognize their spirit of dedication and commitment towards these religious nuns who served their lifetime with compassion. YOU ARE OUR HEROES. We appreciate you and all you do.

“For it is in giving that we receive,” was so beautifully articulated by St. Francis of Assisi in his prayer, Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace. When we visited to deliver lunch for the staff of the Dominican Convent in Sparkill, we immediately understood the meaning of this prayer. What a loving example the Sisters are for us all.

The Lunch Initiative is possible through the generosity and support of many people who have made contributions and donations to the MOM Foundation. We sincerely thank you for sharing your resources and gifts. MOM Foundation believes in the value that, together, we can achieve incredible things for our community.

So many people selflessly put themselves on the frontline to care for others with no consideration for their personal safety. Our nurses, doctors, police officers, firefighters, emergency service workers, grocery store clerks, restaurant workers, and first responders go to work every day with one intention, to take care of others. We are incredibly thankful for their service.

With a shortage of medical supplies, the MOM Foundation stepped up to the plate immediately to make masks and distribute them to anyone in need of a face mask, including Rockland Child Care, South Orangetown Parents Group, Daughters of Saint Ann, Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt and families in the community. If you need a face mask, please call 845- 421-0969. You can visit our website at www.MOM-Foundation.org. “The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it.” – Mother Teresa
